Mr Sandip Pradhan has been appointed as Deputy Director General of the Sports Authority of India. Before being appointed to SAI,Pradhan had been working as director general of Sports Authority of Gujarat(SAG) for the last 4 years.

Pradhan was credited with transforming the sporting scene in Gujarat during his tenure at SAG. He implemented many new policies including the introduction of 'Sports Schools' in various districts of the state. In the last four years, the Gujarat government has appointed many elite athletes, including Dhanraj Pillay, PT Usha, and Pullela Gopichand as mentors of their respective disciplines. As a result, Gujarat, which had finished 28th in the 2011 National Games, finished ninth last year.
